Production Management Industries, LLC VICTA® - Patented Production Vessel Cleaning Assembly
Overview: At most production platforms, oil, water, and gas separation vessels are employed to direct production flow to an appropriate holding tank or sales line going onshore. Over a period of time, sands and solids accumulate in the bottom of the tanks and spread throughout the production system (pipelines, overboard water treating systems, etc.).
These problems magnify as a well or field matures resulting in a higher rate of accumulation of these superfluous wastes. It prevents appropriate time for retention and separation of materials inside the vessel creating problems such as low quality product, clogged lines, and fluids/solids going elsewhere in the system that may not be capable of handling the foreign material. This has historically caused unwanted and unscheduled facility shut-ins.
Situation: Without production, customers lose critical revenues that justify the facility. Customarily, the operator is judged by the percentage of run time at its producing facility and its ability to retain and/or optimize production flow.
Conventional manned entries encompass inherent liabilities in confined spaces. Even though personnel wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow stringent regulations and procedures, they are nonetheless subjected to harsh and (most times) very hazardous environments.
Solution: Production Management Industries, Superior’s environmental and field management subsidiary has developed VICTA® (Vessel In-service Cleaning Tool Assembly – patent #6,021,787) providing producers innovative technology that can prevent them from having to close their valves.
Even though still a core service line – conventional tank & vessel cleaning, our philosophy and mission is to help our clients lower their costs to operate and optimize production flow. Hence, development of VICTA®
Some applications of VICTA® promote bundled services of PMI’s Environmental and Construction Services groups. When existing drain ports do not allow controllable access to the vessel, modifications are required. PMI’s Construction Services group possesses the expertise and a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessels Inspectors “R” stamp to perform these services.
Lost production is easily the largest cost driver in the total cost equation of cleaning production vessels. From small marginal platforms with production of approximately 1,000 barrels of oil per day to large deepwater facilities with production levels over 100,000 barrels per day, lost production can account for over $2 million considering current market conditions. Add the loss of gas production and this figure increases even more dramatically. VICTA® can significantly reduce and/or eliminate the number of shut-ins required for cleaning purposes.
